Cleaning butcher blocks household cleaning tip No72

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Hopefully you will find this domestic cleaning tip that gives you advice on cleaning your butcher block to be of some use. You will also find below a link to other domestic cleaning tips that make up this series of cleaning butcher blocksblogs that I am currently publishing on a regular basis.

Household cleaning tip No72 offers some advice on cleaning your butcher block.

Butcher blocks are well known for being a breeding ground for bacteria. keeping your butcher block hygienic is extremely important, when you have used your butcher block always wash it with a mild detergent and then leave it to air dry thoroughly.

Then carefully rub some salt into your block to help to draw out any moisture which may be trapped within the crevices of your butcher block.

Also to help to keep your butcher block in top notch condition carefully rub a very small layer of mineral oil into the wood upon completion of the cleaning.

New domestic cleaning tips are always more than welcome.

Cleaning from top to bottom Cleaning reduction tip

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

I am currently writing a series of small articles, which are aimed at what I call domestic cleaning reduction! Strictly speaking these cleaning tips are focused more on the minimising of the household domestic cleaning requirements within your household, by explaining ways that you can reduce the spread of dirt, grime and germs throughout your property.

Cleaning from top to bottom

When cleaning your property it is always advisable to start at the top and work downwards. If you start at the bottom and work up you will often discover that you will be messing up the bottom again once you dust and clean the higher levels, causing you to have to do the job twice.

New cleaning reduction tips are always more than welcome.

Chimney sweeping cleaning reduction hint

Friday, April 17th, 2009

I am writing a series of small articles which are aimed at what I call cleaning reduction tips! Strictly speaking these tips are focused more on the minimising of the domestic cleaning requirements in your household, by explaining ways that you can reduce the spread of grime and germs throughout your property.

Chimney sweeping

This tip is or should be quite obvious, if you have a coal fire and instead of hiring a professional chimney sweep you decide to clean your chimney yourself make sure that you cover up your carpets and furniture with old sheets.

Also and more importantly secure a board up against your fire surround and make an hole in it just big enough for your chimney sweep rods to go through as this will drastically reduce the amount of soot that escapes into your room.

This advice if followed will most certainly save your carpets and furniture requiring some intensive cleaning.

Drain and sink traps household cleaning prevention tip

Drain and sink traps household cleaning prevention tip

I am writing a series of blogs, which are aimed at what I call domestic cleaning prevention! Strictly speaking these tips are focused more on the minimising of your domestic cleaning requirements within your household, by discribing ways that you can reduce the spread of filth, grime and germs throughout your household.

Sink and drain traps

This tip is aimed at preventing blockages in your sink trap or your outside drain trap. Always scrape your waste food away into your household waste disposal point as washing it down your sink hole could lead to your sink getting blocked. Also it could leave an unhealthy revolting smell coming from within your sink or your outside drain.

Also never pour hot fat or grease down your sink as it can cool very rapidly and solidify in your traps and cause you to have a smelly unhygenic flood especially from your outside drain.

By simply taking care of where you dispose of your food waste you could save yourself an awful smelly mess to have to deal with.

New cleaning prevention tips are always more than welcome.

Household cleaning reduction tip removing your footwear

I am starting a series of blogs over the forthcoming weeks which will be aimed soley at what I call household cleaning reduction! Strictly speaking these cleaning tips will be focused more on the minimising of domestic household cleaning, explaining ways to stop the spread of grime by reducing and preventing its spread throughout your property.

Think before you trample

No1 on my list is footwear, boots, shoes, trainers, always think before you trample! When you return to your home it is always a very good practice to remove your footwear just before entering your home as it is amazing the amount of dirt and filth that can be deposited throughout your household onto your carpets, tiles and wooden floors if you just can’t be bothered to simply remove your footwear.

Removing your footwear will help minimise the need for shampooing carpets, mopping floors etc, saving your time, money on electricity, cleaning materials and also increase the life span of carpets and wooden floors etc.
