Franchise arrangements are often called chain stores.
Franchising (from the French for honesty or freedom) is a method of doing business wherein a franchisor licenses trademarks and tried and proven methods of doing business to a franchisee in exchange for a recurring payment, and usually a percentage piece of gross sales or gross profits as well as the annual fees. Various tangibles and intangibles such as national or international advertising, training, and other support services are commonly made available by the franchisor, and may indeed be required by the franchisor, which generally requires audited books, and may subject the franchisee or the outlet to periodic and surprise spot checks. Failure of such tests typically involve non-renewal or cancellation of franchise rights.
A business operated under a franchise arrangement is often called a chain store, franchise outlet, or simply franchise

Starting your own domestic cleaning business requires a lot of research and plenty of courage.
I firstly began by researching my local area looking through newspapers and phone books to determine what competition there was around, and what they charged for their services, if they were a company or an agency? In general an agency can operate with less overheads than a company so potentially they can operate more economically and offer a first class service at a cost effective price for their clientele. Also I had to determine if I were to enter into that market place then how and where would I start? What would I charge? Where would I find clients? What about cleaners? Whichever way I turned I seemed to be putting a barrier in the way of myself with further questions and concerns. A problem I have always had is that I am not really a gambling type of person, I had always been used to going out doing a days/weeks work and then getting paid for it, I had to change my attitude and for once take what I thought at the time was a massive gamble, in hindsight I don’t believe that it was a gamble and I still feel that I’m not the gambling type.
I decided in the end to set myself a start date and to channel my energies towards achieving that goal. I set about creating some advertising material ready for the day that I had chosen; also I decided upon a small local market town to use as a guinea pig to learn my new trade in. I got myself insured had some contract books printed and when the day finally arrived I began walking the streets spreading the word from house to house and has they say the rest is history, I have never looked back its proved to be the best decision that I ever made for myself and my family.

Franchise business opportunities give budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to start up a business in a field of their own choosing without the usual risks that can be associated with new business start ups.
Franchise business opportunities offer the budding entrepreneur a greater degree of confidence and security when setting up in business by presenting them with a business model and recognised brand that has already been tested out and proven to be successful, unless it is a brand new franchise it will have been marketed successfully in various locations nationally already. Often the newer franchise businesses will often offer certain extra incentives to the budding entrepreneur such as a cheaper initial franchise package fee and larger franchise territories in which to operate.
Franchise business opportunities will usually offer the entrepreneur an exclusive area in which to market and trade their business, indepth initial training, ongoing regular support and stationary and business templates that they will require to operate, build, maintain and grow their business.
Entrepreneurs although usually have a personal requirement to be self motivated, dedicated, regimented and above all else have an overwhelming desire and will to succeed with their new business venture. A franchisor can only help to motivate their franchisees to a certain extent.

Resource levelling is a benefit of CPA in that you find the sequence of jobs that are critical to the continuity and completion of the job on time. For example you cannot start your roof construction until your walls are built.
Certain jobs take certain time spans and you cannot start the next stage of construction until each critical stage is complete. You can although plan the none critical jobs around the critical ones allowing complete utilization of the workforce and hence keep all the staff busy working towards the final goal!

When you start your new business its status will be that either of a SOLE TRADER, PARTNERSHIP or a LIMITED COMPANY.
A sole trader is the simplest type of business from the point of view of formalities and restrictions for an individual. If you are operating the business on a partnership basis then I would recommend that you have a partnership agreement drawn up by a solicitor.
Your accountant, solicitor or bank manager will advise you on the advantages and disadvantages to you personally and to your individual business, with regards to the status of your business.

Phil wanted to move into semi retirement and was looking for an ideal business venture, when in his own words he happened to come across Robin Harrison, founder of “Dolly Char”.
Robin has been very helpful, and I recently became a new franchisee, representing the northeast. Dolly Char, has given me exactly what I am looking for, and I would recommend anyone seeking an alternative lifestyle, to visit the Dolly Char Franchise Website.

Commitment and Attitude required to manage your own Business
The enourmous thrill involved in owning your own business can, for a short space of time, put a gloss over the mental and physical pressures that you will eventually encounter.
You will almost certainly require a change of attitude to cope with the many new situations that will arise. You must quickly become self disciplined and motivated to a very high level to help you deal with these new situations. This will involve planning and forecasting your activities weeks in advance with a list of tasks to be done, organising and managing your time to the best advantage. Remember, this will include delegating tasks (where appropriate) and ensuring that good administrative procedures are in place etc.
If you plan your day and fill it with purposeful activity, you will find the motivation to work hard and enjoy developing your business. More importantly, financial rewards will follow.

Work from home business disadvantages
If like me you are the boss of your own work from home business then I am sure that you will agree that there are a few disadvantages in doing so, below I have noted a few disadvantages that come to my mind, maybe you can add some more, please feel free to do so.
It can be a nightmare trying to get away from your work because living on the job you feel an urge to keep working!
If you do not regulate your daily working life then this can be detrimental to your personal or family life.
Friends who know you work from home can become regular visitors and so get in the way of your work schedule.
When starting up your work from home business it might put an heavy financial strain on your family budget.
Family members but mainly children can become an hindrance coming in and out of your office messing about and making a noise which doesn’t make phone calls sound very professional also it can and will upset your concentration!
It can be a job in itself to keep yourself motivated, as you do not have a boss to worry about!
Personally I would not change a thing as i believe that working from home is really great, but what I am trying to convey is that there are often disadvantages in many things that we do.

Considering franchising your business then do your home work first!
If you are considering franchising your business model I would recommend that you first research and make yourself well aware of any potential threats that lay out there waiting for you that could cause you and your business severe problems particularly during the early stages of trying to get your franchise business established in the franchise market place.
Some of the main threats as I see them that could cause your new franchise business to stutter or totally collapse around your feet before it as even got off the ground are as follows: -
Have you priced your franchise model at a cost effective but competitive rate?
Continuing growth of existing franchise business competitors.
As well as your business there may well also be a continuing stream of other new franchise business competitors entering into your chosen market place.
A large quantity of independent small companies already trading in your market place might well make your franchise less appealing to potential franchisees.
Low rates of unemployment could mean a limited amount of new entrepreneurs looking for franchise business opportunities.
There are many other potential threats that exist those that I have outlined above are only the tip of the iceberg, please feel free to contribute to my list with any potential threats that you might be aware of that may threaten someone trying to get their new franchise business model off the ground.

Sexy cleaning maids encourage more business
I have recently updated my marketing material and on my business leaflets I have included a photograph of a sexy cleaning maids. The photograph covers about 25% of the front side of the leaflet.
I have already delivered in the region of 4000 of these new business leaflets and I can honestly say that my hit rate per thousand as doubled. Is the reason for this increase the picture of the attractive cleaning maid or is it because all of a sudden people have more disposable income available to them?
My gut feeling is that it is the maid more than the increase in disposable income, what are your thoughts and have you tried something similar in the past?
