Franchise business opportunities

Franchise business opportunities give budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to start up a business in a field of their own choosing without the usual risks that can be associated with new business start ups.

Franchise business opportunities offer the budding entrepreneur a domestic cleaning franchise management teamgreater degree of confidence and security when setting up in business by presenting  them with a business model and recognised brand that has already been tested out and proven to be successful, unless it is a brand new franchise it will have been marketed successfully in various locations nationally already.   Often the newer franchise businesses will often offer certain extra incentives to the budding entrepreneur such as a cheaper initial franchise package fee and larger franchise territories in which to operate.

Franchise business opportunities will usually offer the entrepreneur an exclusive area in which to market and trade their business, indepth initial training, ongoing regular support and stationary and business templates that they will require to operate, build, maintain and grow their business.

Entrepreneurs although usually have a personal requirement to be self motivated, dedicated, regimented and above all else have an overwhelming desire and will to succeed with their new business venture.  A franchisor can only help to motivate their franchisees to a certain extent.

I Dreamed A Dream

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Susan Boyle’s moving performance on Britain’s Got Talent reminds us that we should not judge a book by its cover. You have to read the whole things or at least a good portion to really understand what it is all about. The same rule applies when evaluating a franchise business. Specifically:

1. Keep an open mind
Just because you may be familiar with a company, do not assume that you can simply tell from the product or service what your income, role, or lifestyle will be like. Thus it is critical to focus on the business model, not the widget.

2. Keep your emotions in check
Emotions — good and bad — can get in the way of objectivity. Thus, if necessary, pretend like you are a reporter trying to gather as much information as possible about a particular franchise company.

3. Keep the main thing the main thing
Information gathered should be trying to answer four key questions:
a) Does the business model work?
b) Do you want to execute the business model?
c) Will this model take you to your goals and dreams?
d) In other words, is this an owner’s role you will enjoy in the long-term?

By trying to answer these questions through a process of mutual due diligence rather than getting bogged down in the minutia of the details, franchisee candidates are better able to stay focus on what is really important — finding and investing in a franchise business to help create their desired future.

Pilot business operation

For any business person that is looking into and seriously considering franchising his or her business model it is essential that they should operate at least one pilot business operation in a different part of the country to where their existing business is currently operating to ascertain that their business model will truly work successfully in different regions of the country.

The results that they gain through running their pilot business operation or business operations will help them to truly evaluate whether their business model is a truly franchisable proposition!

If you are a potential franchisee looking at buying a franchise business be careful to research if the company that you are interested in buying a franchise from ran a pilot business operation before they started franchising out their business system, not every company does, be warned!

Most franchise companies although have run a pilot scheme in their early days, and just for the record this is one business that most definetly did hmmmmm wink

Considering franchising your business then do your home work first!

If you are considering franchising your business model I would recommend that you first research and make yourself well aware of any potential threats that lay out there waiting for you that could cause you and your business severe problems particularly during the early stages of trying to get your franchise business established in the franchise market place.

Some of the main threats as I see them that could cause your new franchise business to stutter or totally collapse around your feet before it as even got off the ground are as follows: -

Have you priced your franchise model at a cost effective but competitive rate?

Continuing growth of existing franchise business competitors.

As well as your business there may well also be a continuing stream of other new franchise business competitors entering into your chosen market place.

A large quantity of independent small companies already trading in your market place might well make your franchise less appealing to potential franchisees.

Low rates of unemployment could mean a limited amount of new entrepreneurs looking for franchise business opportunities.

There are many other potential threats that exist those that I have outlined above are only the tip of the iceberg, please feel free to contribute to my list with any potential threats that you might be aware of that may threaten someone trying to get their new franchise business model off the ground.
