To be a good franchisor
I personally think that to be a good franchisor that you must take a personal interest in the success of all of your franchisees by: -
Encouraging franchisees on an ongoing basis.
Offer your franchisees around the clock 24 hour support where possible.
Be prepared to offer hands on support if a franchisee requires your assistance at any time.
Offer franchisees extra training if and when they require it.
Keep up to date with all new legislation that might apply to your franchise business model.
Make yourself easily contactable either by telephone or e-mail by franchisees.
Generate business enquiries for your franchisees.
Install a feeling of equalness in franchisees so that they all feel part of one big happy family.
Continue to grow your brand by the recruitment of new franchisees.
Can you think of any thing else that could be expected of a good franchisor?

Good on you for listing the items in this post they are definitely important issues. In my experience with franchised organizations there are a few more items that can be added to your list and some are very important. Maybe the most important one is “Making sure you (the Franchisor) continue to give good value to your franchisees”.
Many franchisors sell many franchises and become big and forget to constantly guarantee value. Lets face it the reason franchisees buy from a franchisor is to get better value then they would on their own. And this is a great reason to be a franchisee. A Franchisor can ask themselves three questions to make sure they are giving good value to the franchisees.
1. Can I continue to sell or support to my franchisees at a better price and quality then my franchisees can obtain on their own?
2. What have I done lately that brings extra value to my franchisees?
3. What can I do in the future to grantee my franchisees continued value?
If a franchisor can work through these three questions and get positive answers or come up with new positive answers they will solve the majority of franchisee complaints.
The “Value Proposition” is a very important part of the franchisor and Franchisee relationship. After all why would a person pay extra money to receive less value for something? They would not, so if a person buys a franchise they have seen the value in doing so. If that franchisee stops to see the value from the franchisor as often happens, then this is were the Franchisor and Franchisee relationship starts to break down. I have seen this happen in small franchised organizations to very large organizations. When the value disappears so to will the positive relationship.

as a DollyChar franchisee myself i agree wholeheartedly with all of the above points,if you don’t get all the help and support from the franchisor (which incidentally we do) then you might as well go solo.

Just to add to the above,I had a little problem regarding the computer, not very good at doing anything other than the simplest things, spoke to Robin on Thursday(and he spent time listening to me even though he was on his way out)and on Saturday(yes the weekend)he kindly updated the Bradford website and put my links and details on the NHS247 website. If that’s not what a good franchisor is then i don’t know what to say. Once again Robin many thanks for all your advice and all the effort you put in on behalf of myself
