Cleaning maids Chesterfield Mr Philip Docherty

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009
Dolly Char are proud to announce the arrival of a new franchisee in Mr Philip Docherty who will operate Dolly Char around the Chesterfield and East Sheffield region.
Phil was born and bred in North East Derbyshire so is very familier with the Sheffield and Chesterfield area.  Having been self employed for sometime Phil has owned and run his own DIY shop.
Phil has also worked as an entertainer on the cabaret and club scene.  Phil now writes and records his own music for pleasure.
In his own words Phil goes on to say, I was looking for a franchise opportunity when I came across Dolly Char.  Although I am always a little wary when considering such offers I was soon put at ease when I met Robin.

After showing me his tried and tested business plan I decided to take the plunge and now looks forward to working along side him and Carol in this exciting venture.

Work from home business for sale

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Whoops and double whoops I forgot this is not the high street marketplace where I could advertise an home based business for sale but instead the Dolly Char domestic cleaning blog, please forgive my slip up and except my apology!

Oh well since I have now realized that this should be a domestic cleaning blog post and not a work from home business for sale advert I suppose I ought to make amends, hmmm what can I think of, oh yes I will give you an idea for a potentially profitable home based hobby business for free instead.

As spring is in the air and our gardens are beginning to come into bloom have you ever considered the idea of making, painting and selling garden ornaments?, they are very easy to make once you have been furnished with the knowledge!

All you need to start this home based hobby business are latex moulds, mixing bucket, plywood, cardboard, trowel, Sharp sand, Ordinary Portland cement, water, paint brushes, sponge and paints. An example of what can be achieved without much effort is shown above.

Once you have manufactured yourself some stock you will then need to find some customers to purchase them from you. I would suggest that you could attend craft fairs, garden fetes and car boot sales. Also many garden centres and aquatic centres will sometimes be willing to take some of your stock on a sale or return basis.

I would like to hear what search term you would use if you were searching to find a domestic cleaner local to you. Obviously we are all individuals with different and varied ideas and your feedback would be greatly appreciated as I feel that at times I am trapped in my own little world and as such I may well be missing a few very good and important search terms that I have not previously thought of.

I have deliberately steered clear of giving any domestic cleaning search engine examples as I do not want to influence your thoughts, that is why my main example is of a totally irrelevant service to my type of business!

Resource levelling is a benefit of CPA in that you find the sequence of jobs that are critical to the continuity and completion of the job on time. For example you cannot start your roof construction until your walls are built.

Certain jobs take certain time spans and you cannot start the next stage of construction until each critical stage is complete. Washing your hands cleaning reduction hint

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I am writing a series of small articles that are aimed at what I call domestic cleaning reduction! Strictly speaking these cleaning reduction hints are focused more on the minimising of the domestic cleaning requirements in your household, by explaining ways that you can reduce the spread of dirt and germs throughout your household.

Washing your hands

This tip is aimed more, or at least it ought to be at the younger members of the family. When your children have been outside playing and then come back into the house with filthy dirty hands as children often do, it is good practice to get them to wash their hands before they start touching furniture and laying on the carpets as this will save the dirt from falling off their hands onto your furniture and carpets.

This simple bit of advice if followed might well save your carpets requiring many shampooes over the course of time.

New cleaning reduction tips are always more than welcome.

Producing method statements

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

The way to go about producing method statements in house developments are as follows. Firstly study the plan of the development and how you would go about doing the work, where you would start and in what sequence it would be most appropriate for each and every activity to be done.

Next look at the individual plan of the house type and study the structure and the way that you think would be the best way of doing the construction work to achieve the standards and quality that you would wish to achieve.

Finally consult the bill of quantities to ascertain the different types of styles and techniques that have been priced for within it i.e. :- traditional roof as apposed to a trussed roof.

When you have gathered all the relevant information that you require you can then set about producing your method statements in the appropriate sequence for constructing an individual dwelling, you will need to use the information that is on hand including quantities which you have found from within the bill of quantities and also your past experience within house building, time taken for individual tasks, size of gangs, plant required etc.

I would also recommend that you split the statements into seven sub sections to cover the various different stages of the construction, site establishment, sub-structure, superstructure, roof, internal, decoration and external works. Each individual sub section includes the relevant tasks to complete that section of the work.

The completed statements will be able to be used for the same house types throughout your development.

Franchise systems

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

As a franchisee, you are the figure representing the franchise company and their franchise systems.

In our own case franchisees represent our company Dolly Char to both domestic cleaners and clients. It is therefore important that our franchisees keep to our franchise systems and maintain a positive image at all times. If a franchisee as a poor personal image, then it is unlikely that any domestic cleaners that they take on will pay much if any attention to their own!

Dolly Char franchisees deal with both clients and domestic cleaners, and we request that they should always be:

  • Smiling
  • Smartly dressed in Dolly Char corporate wear
  • Project a good body language
  • Keep constant eye contact with the people they talk to
  • Be well mannered and polite at all times

As part of our Dolly Char induction training, franchisees learn more about how to talk to and engage with potential clients and cleaners. It is extremely important that they work on their delivery and conversational tone, because people warm to good talkers. Learning such skills are a matter of time and experience, as some people find it easy and other find it harder. Franchisees also pick up some of the information without having to ask any questions (asking the obvious can look unprofessional). Here are some simple points that we ask our franchisees to bear in mind:

  • Be prepared
  • Be relaxed
  • Don’t whisper or shout
  • Don’t rush
  • And enjoy yourself!
